1972 Ads: Bathhouses

These ads admittedly have little to do with rock and roll.  Ages ago, I heard an interview with one of the Dolls (either Johansen or Arthur Kane, I can't recall which) in which he mentioned that one of their earliest gigs was at a Brooklyn bathhouse called "Man Country."  I've long wondered if such a joint was a myth, but apparently it wasn't, as they advertised regularly in the Voice.  Sadly, I couldn't find an announcement for a Dolls show there (neither has Hans at fromthearchives), but just for good clean fun I still felt compelled to collect the Man's Country ads, as well of those for the better-known Continental Baths.

On Sylvain's Facebook page, he said 10 August 71 at Man's Country was the first paid Dolls show. In Arthur Kane's memoir, "I, Doll," which is full of errors, claimed the group did a pair of shows there over a weekend in Spring '72.
