In a feeble attempt to combat my constant homesickness, I compile tales of New York City rock & roll landmarks, most of 'em long gone. Moronic musings on various other enthusiasms are also thrown in for good measure.

Elegie for Music Row
From Rock Scene, March 1976.
Found this article by accident while looking for something else. Clearly one of these days I've gotta pore through my issues of Rock Scene with a fine-toothed comb!
What a Shame about Manny's, it was such a great store, I used to love going there. I purchased two beautiful guitar there, they had a wonderful selection. In fact I used to love 48th street when it was truly music row.

ReplyDeleteI miss Manny's as well. Their drum department was far superior to the that of the Sam Ash across the street. Friendly, low-key staff.
