It continues to burn the Midnight Lamp

The NY Times did a nice story on Electric Lady Studios' 40th Anniversary yesterday. Yup, one of these days I must do a Generation club post, but I think I might have to wait until Google puts up the 1968 archives of the Voice.

A blessed find for Bankeheads

Click on over to Bedazzled and marvel at a rare clip from a Live from the Bitter End TV show featuring the Left Banke doing "Shadows Breaking Over My Head" with LIVE vocals!!! You might have to download it first to watch it, that's the only way I could get it to work.
UPDATE 9/15/2010: It's also been uploaded to Youtube.

Some months ago Binky Philips wrote me a very nice note informing me that he was writing for Sonic Boomers, but my new pal Tomthefunky just let me know Binky has now set up shop at the Huffington Post. If you're in need of irresistibly fun first-person NYC rock & roll memoirs, look no further.

I'll crank out some more 1970 posts when time allows...just a bit too occupied with "staycation" stuff at the moment.

1970 Ads: Fillmore East

Selected 1970 Voice ads for the Fillmore East. As before, I didn't bother collecting the regular weekly column ads, since near-complete show lists have already been compiled. I saved the ads for special events, and the separate concert announcements which were sponsored by various record companies.
